Directions: This method uses two dial indicators that take shaft-to-shaft readings. Both the offset and angularity are combined in the alignment calculation. This method determines the misalignment by taking two rim readings at different points along the shaft and is fast and easy to use. Make sure couplings are free from backlash if having to read from outside diameter of couplings. Indicator stems must be perpendicular to shafts. Looseness will result in inaccurate readings. Simply set indicators to "0" on the dials before 180° rotation.
